Ride Your Own Ride: Living Authentically and With Less Comparison
Today’s episode on Powered by Joy Podcast is about how you should “Ride Your Own Ride," we explore the metaphor of riding a motorcycle as a way to navigate life. Focusing on the importance of living authentically and resisting the pressure to conform to societal expectations. We discuss how social media often gives the illusion of perfection, leading people to compare themselves to others and feel shitty about themselves and their lives.
I encourage you to embrace your individuality and make choices aligned with your true desires, rather than trying to emulate others. Tools like tuning into one's inner voice or "knower" to discern what brings genuine joy and fulfillment are key. By doing so, individuals can break free from the cycle of comparison and live more purposefully and feel less pressure day to day. We have to make the choice to go find and learn new skills and tools for living day to day that we weren’t all taught in our childhood. As an adult, we get to choose to do things different and better than was modeled to us! That’s exciting!
We will do a fun, maybe not so fun, practical exercise involving calculating the remaining months of one's life based on average life expectancy, bringing to light the finite nature of time and the importance of making the freaking most of it! We end with a challenge to seek out new experiences that bring joy, pleasure, and adventure, reminding you not to take your time on Earth for granted!
Don’t look back at the end of the ride and wonder what you could have done better at or enjoyed more of…
