Empowering moms to experience untethered Joy, while honoring their commitment to their loved ones is the goal here! If you have found yourself feeling frustrated, stuck, or bored and perhaps you have felt that way so long, you feel helpless to make any change or experience pent up anger (hair trigger on your patience?). Here we end up on a quest for Joy that takes us down a path that explores our inner child and childhood programming, spiritual beliefs, and discovering what brings each of us joy. Then the fun part is getting the courage and curiosity in place to go do things that push you out of your comfort zone and make you grow, but also brings moments of victory and joy. We will discuss how we make time for this important part of our experience of this life, so it’s not filled with regrets when we get to the finish line and still be committed to being present for our family and friends.

In this episode of Powered by Joy Podcast we have our first guest Dr. Annette Athy. It was my privilege to welcome her for a genuine discussion around grief and death. It can often be a taboo subject for all parties involved in processing the grief of a loved one passing away.
You find yourself not sure what to say to someone in grief, don’t want to “bring it up” and upset them… On the other hand you don’t want to seem like you don’t care… It becomes the elephant in the room. You don’t know how to offer real help that they will receive.
If you are the one in grief, you may want to talk about it but feel that others are over it or don’t want to hear about your loved one who passed or about your struggling emotions around dealing with life after they are gone? Maybe you don’t know how to ask for help because you are so overwhelmed or numb.
When there are children involved, which is often, we discuss helpful tips and tools that Annette has developed and used for years. In those years, she has found that the adults usually were never taught tools to openly discuss grief and all the emotions that are involved. Let alone dealing with day to day life after everyone has gone back to their normal routine. The secondary trauma that happens when suddenly mom who was home before and after school is no longer there.
There are so many aspects of grief that are just not spoken about and it’s time we normalize speaking about death, grief, and all the emotions that come with it. How it shows up differently in all of us. When we know how our loved ones are processing their grief with tools like the Grief Storm Quiz (see below for the link to the quiz), it helps us to understand each other more. We also discuss how having small discussions about grief often is so much better than waiting for the child or person in grief to bring up the topic…which can lead to a big storm of emotions!
No matter your age, experiencing the death of a loved one is a life altering event! We want to make sure you know there are tools available to help you. Most importantly, you are not alone or doing it wrong! There is no normal when it comes to grief, no correct timeline for moving on.
Below are some amazing resources and please connect with Dr. Annette Athy via links below if you are even slightly curious, or feel desperate for resources. I have personally experienced her genuine, warm, authentic guidance and wisdom, shared in easy and understandable ways.

Dr. Athy now runs an online coaching business, supporting parents of grieving children and offering resources to combat grief illiteracy. She also developed the Grief Storm Quiz to help parents understand and support their child's unique grief needs. In this episode of the Powered by Joy Podcast, we tackle the common struggle of not trusting ourselves, creating self-doubt and how to build trust in our decision-making. We explore why we often doubt ourselves and learn five practical tools to strengthen self-trust, allowing us to make decisions with more ease and confidence.
Get to Know Yourself: The importance of understanding your core values, likes, and dislikes is a part of the process. This involves tuning into your "knower"—your intuition—and asking yourself, "Is this what I really want?" By becoming more in touch with your true self, you lay the foundation for greater self-trust.
Be Kind and Compassionate to Yourself: Instead of beating yourself up over mistakes, consider adopting a compassionate mindset, treating yourself with the same kindness you'd offer a friend. Allowing yourself to feel emotions without judgment, which helps in releasing negative energy and promotes self-understanding.
Spend Time Alone: Value spending quality time with yourself, without distractions. This could be meditating, taking walks, or simply sitting in silence. Similar to dating someone new, you get to know yourself better and deepen your self-trust through regular one-on-one time. This is also where you learn to hear your “knower” more clearly.
Set Achievable Goals and Try New Things: Learning new skills in small, manageable steps builds confidence and competence. Try setting realistic and achievable goals, like mastering a new hobby incrementally, reinforces trust in your abilities across different areas of your life. Setting yourself up for some wins!
Stick with Your Decisions: Making decisions and not wavering builds resilience. Setting a daily intention to make choices confidently and be willing to handle any outcomes. Over time, this practice strengthens your "decision-making muscle," reduces fear of making mistakes, and nurtures trust in your capacity to cope with consequences or outcomes.
Approach self-trust as a journey, not a destination. Each step forward, no matter how small, is progress. Try sharing your experiences of building self-trust with others, reminding everyone that learning from decisions—even imperfect ones—is a powerful way to grow.

FREE CORE VALUE TOOL-Download Core Value Exercise  This is a quick tool you can use to gain massive clarity (that is STEP 1!), which is so important when trying to develop self-trust and crush the distracting and draining self-doubt! This is a quick and fun way to get to know yourself even better!

In this episode of the Powered by Joy Podcast, we dive deep into the topic of fear, I share a personal experience of confronting fear head-on while at a racetrack recently. Noticing a seasonal pattern of fear that held me back each year, especially while riding my motorcycle. Realizing how much fear and self-doubt were dominating my thoughts, affecting my performance, and robbing me of the joy I could have been experiencing. This episode is for anyone who feels stuck dealing with fear, and may feel hesitant to take action in any area of  your life.
We cover 5 powerful tools to help overcome fear, such as observing emotions without judgment, reflecting on achievements and not failures, and visualizing success along with tying powerful emotions to positive outcomes. We address the importance of gratitude, both for the opportunities to strive for your desires and the journey. Remember seeking guidance or coaching when feeling stuck can expedite the process and bring you results more quickly (sometimes easier too). By shifting our focus from fear to love, trust, and gratitude, we get  to reclaim our joy, punch fear in the face, and embrace the wins, growth, and adventures life offers. Listen in as we discuss actionable strategies to help you expand your capacity for joy and empower you to live a fuller, more adventurous life.

In this episode of Powered by Joy Podcast we discuss finding yourself saying "I'm sorry" far too often, even when it's not necessary? It’s something many of us do—whether we bump into someone at the store or decline an invitation, we often default to apologizing and offering justification or explanation. But have you ever wondered why this habit is so ingrained and how it impacts us? We will delve into the origins of this behavior, exploring why we feel compelled to apologize for things that don’t require an apology and how it can be disempowering.
We’ll discuss how the words we choose, like "sorry," can affect our self-perception and the energy we bring into our lives. Words are so powerful—they can uplift or diminish us. Today, we'll explore how to reclaim our power by small steps, shifting the way we communicate, especially in situations where over-apologizing has become a habit. We’ll review practical strategies to stop this automatic response and start to use language that honors both ourselves and others. By making small changes in how we express ourselves, we can foster more joy, confidence, and authenticity in our daily lives. If you’re ready to stop over-apologizing and start living with more intention, you’re in the right place.

In this episode of Powered by Joy Podcast, we're diving deep into what it feels like to hit a wall—whether it's in achieving a goal, finishing a project, or simply dealing with a frustrating situation in daily life. I’m so excited about this solution that challenges our traditional, often rigid approaches to overcoming obstacles. We reflect on how we’ve all been conditioned to grind, work harder, and push through difficulties, but through a personal journey I reveal that embracing play and joy can be a powerful, and perhaps unexpected, antidote to feeling stuck.
We cover how my own experience of making space for play in my life, whether through engaging in motor sports for fun or exploring spiritual practices with like-minded friends opened up space for big change. Surprisingly, these moments of joy and playfulness led to a significant breakthrough in my professional life, more than doubling my business results. We focus on the importance of recognizing the signals our bodies give us when we're hitting a limit and how stepping away to play can reset our energy, creativity, and overall progress, creating space for breakthrough.
With a four-step process—Observe, Acknowledge, Curiosity, and  Go Play—we acknowledge the importance of integrating fun and joy into daily life. By doing so, not only can we overcome obstacles, but we also become more magnetic and creative in our pursuits. The episode also includes a FREE resource with playful ideas to help you quickly shift your energy whenever you feel stuck. Whether you're facing a major challenge or just a minor setback, this episode encourages you to harness the power of play to find your way forward.

In this episode of the Powered by Joy Podcast, we delve into the complexities of navigating life's transitions and all the lovely uncertainties that come at different phases of life. Drawing from personal experiences, we consider the importance of creating an "inner sanctuary"—a personal space where one feels they have a sense of choice and control, despite external uncertainties. This sanctuary involves focusing on areas of life that can be managed, such as mind, body, soul, home, and relationships, to foster peace and joy.
We explore the impact of significant life changes, like children leaving home, our bodies changing as one ages, and family dynamics. I willingly share my struggle with physical ailments and emotional turmoil during this period, sharing how I initially blamed my body and tried various solutions and regiments. However, I eventually realized the need to look within with curiosity and address stress and my emotional health. By listening to my body, setting boundaries, and adopting practices like sleep hygiene and coping tools for stress, I found ways to improve my overall well-being and took my power back to make change and help myself, no one (doctors included) was coming to wave a magic wand!
The episode includes practical tools for cultivating an inner sanctuary, including meditation, journaling, and creating a nurturing home environment. I want to emphasize the importance of connecting with others and loved ones and finding moments of play and pleasure in everyday life. These practices help shift one's mindset from feeling overwhelmed and powerless to feeling empowered and capable of making shifts in one’s life for the better. Please use curiosity to approach these shifts and an open mind, experimenting with different methods to find what brings YOU joy and peace. Remember you have the power to choose your perspective and how you perceive life and all its experiences. This means you also have the power within you to choose to respond to life’s experiences. That might mean heading home to your favorite place with your favorite tea with your favorite book. It may look like you are heading out in the mountains for a hike and listening to the birds and enjoying the fresh air after a long day at work. It’s YOUR choice!
Check out the episode for all 6 areas and steps to start creating your inner sanctuary today!

In this episode of the Powered by Joy Podcast, we dive deep into the concept of "triggering yourself" or being irritated and frustrated by your own choices and patterns. We explore how seemingly minor events, like hearing a particular song, can unexpectedly stir up negative emotions and disrupt our day. Through some examples, we discuss how our behaviors, environment, and beliefs play significant roles in these emotional triggers and consider practical strategies to protect ourselves from unnecessary stress and emotional turmoil.
We touch on the importance of intentional actions and self-care in managing our emotional responses. I explain how the choices we make, from the way we start our day to the media we consume, can either support or undermine our emotional well-being. By being mindful of our environment, including the physical space and the people we interact with, we can create a more positive and supportive atmosphere that reduces the likelihood of triggering negative emotions.
Furthermore, we delve into the power of beliefs, highlighting how deeply ingrained thoughts can shape our reactions and experiences. I encourage you to examine your beliefs, especially those that may cause pain or discomfort, and to work on healing them. By choosing more loving and supportive beliefs, we can better navigate the ups and downs of life with resilience and grace.
Throughout the episode, I provide actionable tips, such as incorporating self-care routines and decluttering our surroundings, to help you create a more joyful and harmonized life. Also a reminder to approach this journey with curiosity and a sense of playfulness, recognizing that personal growth and healing are ongoing processes. So be kind to yourself!

In this episode of the Powered by Joy podcast, we dive into the challenging topic of triggering others just by being ourselves. Building on last week's discussion about managing our reactions when others trigger us, this week shifts the focus to how our presence and actions might evoke strong emotional responses in others. We explore this dynamic, and consider insights and practical steps to navigate these situations with grace and compassion.
You will be introduced to the powerful concept of your “Anchor” -personal truths that help us stay grounded when we realize we've triggered someone. Using a personal story about my passion for spirituality and how it once made someone uncomfortable. This experience taught me to be mindful of my audience while staying true to my beliefs. Using this as a foundation, we cover four key steps to handle such moments:
Observe-notice the emotions and reaction, be present in the moment
Curiosity without judgment
Shift your perspective
Anchor yourselves in truths
Through these steps, I encourage you to reflect on your interactions, consider the perspectives of others, and maintain your authentic self without compromising compassion. The episode is filled with practical advice and relatable stories, providing you with tools to navigate the complex emotions that arise when they unintentionally trigger others. The goal is to help everyone find more joy and maintain your commitment to your family and friends, even in the face of uncomfortable emotions. Getting more comfortable with this allows healing to become possible and a chance to grow your capacity for both the high’s and low’s of life.
Tune in to learn how to observe, get curious, shift perspectives, and anchor in your truth to handle these challenging situations with empathy and self-assurance. Whether you struggle with feeling like you are "too much" or just want to deepen your understanding of human interactions, this episode offers valuable insights and actionable steps.

In this episode of Powered by Joy Podcast, we delve into the complex and often misunderstood concept of being triggered. Have you ever experienced an intense emotional reaction to a situation or person, only to later realize your response might have been a bit extreme? This episode unpacks the idea of triggers, exploring how seemingly small events can provoke powerful emotional responses.
With a personal story regarding a childhood memory that shaped my reactions to new experiences, I demonstrate how unhealed wounds can show up as an adult. We also discuss feelings of jealousy and envy, using another example of encountering someone living a life I felt envious of. Through these stories, I hope to illustrate how our triggers are often rooted in unhealed wounds from our past that could be ready to be healed.
We review a three-step process to help you manage and understand your triggers: 1-Observe, 2-Curiosity-ask questions, 3- SHIFT your perspective and next thoughts. By observing your emotional responses, questioning their origins with curiosity, and shifting your mindset, you can transform how you react to triggering situations. Let’s remember the importance of self-compassion and gratitude in this process, offering 2 bonus steps to reinforce positive thinking and fast forward your personal growth.
Join as we explore how understanding and healing our triggers can lead to a more joyful, abundant life. If you’ve ever felt stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed by your emotions, this episode provides valuable insights and practical steps to help you move forward. Tune in and start your journey towards greater emotional resilience and joy.
