Empowering moms to experience untethered Joy, while honoring their commitment to their loved ones is the goal here! If you have found yourself feeling frustrated, stuck, or bored and perhaps you have felt that way so long, you feel helpless to make any change or experience pent up anger (hair trigger on your patience?). Here we end up on a quest for Joy that takes us down a path that explores our inner child and childhood programming, spiritual beliefs, and discovering what brings each of us joy. Then the fun part is getting the courage and curiosity in place to go do things that push you out of your comfort zone and make you grow, but also brings moments of victory and joy. We will discuss how we make time for this important part of our experience of this life, so it’s not filled with regrets when we get to the finish line and still be committed to being present for our family and friends.

In this episode of the Power by Joy podcast, we explore the concept of being the first to offer compassion and curiosity over judgment and doubt in various situations. We begin by my sharing a personal experience of feeling frustrated when an appointment didn't go as planned, highlighting the challenge of practicing compassion in real-life scenarios.
We reflect on the idea of giving others the "benefit of compassion and curiosity" rather than the "benefit of the doubt," emphasizing the importance of assuming positive intentions and being open to understanding others' perspectives.
Throughout this  episode, I encourage you to consider the impact of their reactions on interactions with others, both in everyday encounters and in close relationships. We discuss the power of setting intentions to practice self-compassion and curiosity, offering practical tips for recognizing and reframing negative self-talk.
I will challenge you to take the initiative in offering compassion and curiosity, starting with yourselves and extending it to others. By reframing judgments and assumptions, I suggest that individuals can create more authentic connections and reduce stress and anxiety in their lives.
The episode concludes with a call to action for you to embrace the practice of offering compassion and curiosity as a way to cultivate joy and connection in your lives. I invite you to reach out if you need support in adopting this mindset shift, emphasizing the transformative potential of choosing compassion over judgment.

In this episode of Powered by Joy Podcast we delve into the analogy between using your brakes on a bike or in a car and setting boundaries in your life. We begin by highlighting instances where perhaps some of us may have impulsively reacted to someone stepping over an unknown boundary you may have, and reacting akin to performing a brake check on someone who makes you mad on the road. Does this impulsive reaction often stem from a lack of established boundaries and  communicating it, and leading to misunderstandings or anger?
Drawing from experiences in motorsports, we explore the different levels of braking techniques and how they parallel setting boundaries. The importance of smooth braking, both in driving and in setting boundaries is a great place to start. Pointing to the need for gradual and assertive communication when addressing boundaries. By applying brakes smoothly in driving, individuals can navigate turns safely and effectively. Similarly, setting boundaries from a more centered, calm place enables us to navigate relationships and conflicts with more ease and clarity.
Another concept, "trail braking" in motorsport, is when a driver gradually reduces their speed while entering a turn to maintain control. We parallel this technique to the process of setting boundaries in new relationships, advocating for a cautious and gradual approach to trust-building and boundary-setting. This allows individuals to establish trust and rapport before revealing deeper aspects of themselves, fostering healthier and more fulfilling connections.
Lastly, we explore the importance of maintenance and adjustment in both braking systems and boundary-setting. Just as brakes require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance, boundaries also need periodic evaluation and adjustment to meet evolving needs and circumstances. A reminder to reflect on your boundaries, identify areas for improvement, and communicate your needs effectively to cultivate healthier and more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others. Most of us desire more connection, and boundaries can play a more helpful role than we sometimes realize.

In today's episode of Powered by Joy Podcast, we're diving into the wisdom of how we use our eyesight and focus while riding motorcycles and how we can apply the same principles to our lives. Ever heard the saying, "You can't move forward if you're looking back"?  We are unpacking that idea and relating it to the helpful skills needed while riding motorcycles.
First up, we're talking about the importance of keeping our eyes focused on where we want to go, just like when maneuvering a motorcycle through turns. It's not just about turning our eyes; it's about turning our whole body and mind towards our desired outcome in life.
Next, we're discussing the art of scanning the road ahead while also staying present to what's immediately in front of us. It's all about finding the balance between focusing on the future and dealing with the obstacles in our path right now. We need to learn to do this without focusing on the obstacle.
So next, we explore the concept of target fixating, where worrying about potential problems can actually lead us straight into them. Instead, we learn to keep our eyes up, stay relaxed, take a breath, and keep forward-focused, trusting ourselves to navigate around obstacles.
And let's not forget about checking our mirrors. Just like on a motorcycle, it's essential to periodically reflect on our journey, adjust our course if needed, and ensure we're still on track toward our desired destination. (hint-life with less regret and more joy and pleasure)
Ultimately, our focus determines our destination in life. Whether we're stuck in the past, fixated on the future, or fully engaged in the present, it shapes the path we're on. So let's choose to be intentional, focus forward, and embark on an adventure filled with joy and purpose.

If you are looking to dive deeper or looking for more one-on-one guidance with getting clarity on how to keep your focus on where you want to go and figuring out what that may even BE!  You can schedule time with me here-Clarity Call- One on One appt

This episode, we're diving into that familiar struggle we all face: the dreaded to-do list, or as we can affectionately call it, the "shit" list and procrastination. You know, those tasks that loom over us, making it hard to even want to start the day. Whether it's chores, work projects, or daunting phone calls, we all have those items we'd rather procrastinate on indefinitely.
So picture this: you wake up, glance at your calendar or to-do list, and immediately hit snooze, not just on your alarm, but on dealing with those dreaded tasks. Instead of diving in, you find yourself putting them off, opting for easier tasks to avoid the discomfort. But what if I told you there's a better way?
Enter the concepts of "eating the frog first" (thanks to Mark Twain) and "eating the elephant one bite at a time." (Desmond Tutu) Eating the frog first means tackling your toughest task first thing in the morning. By getting it out of the way, you clear mental space and set a positive tone for the day. It's like ripping off a Band-Aid—it stings at first, but then you feel a sense of relief and accomplishment, and more dread!
On the other hand, eating the elephant one bite at a time is a helpful way to break down larger projects into smaller, more manageable chunks. Instead of overwhelming yourself with the enormity of the task, you take it step by step, making progress without feeling as overwhelmed.
Take taxes, for example. Instead of waiting until the last minute and enduring endless hours and days of stress, you commit to spending just a small bit of time each month organizing your finances. Another way is scheduling short time blocks (ex. 30 mins) a few times a week leading up to the tax deadline. By tax time, it's not such a huge burden, and you're spared the agony of a tax season meltdown, or lets say spares you endless hours of misery all at once.
Similarly, when faced with uncomfortable conversations or challenging decisions, tackling them head-on can be liberating. Whether it's giving notice at work or setting boundaries in relationships, addressing the issue promptly saves you from endless worry and stress. Plus, once you've faced the tough stuff, you'll feel lighter, more focused, and ready to tackle anything the day throws your way.
So, if you're tired of feeling weighed down by your shit list, why not try a new approach? Whether you're eating the frog first or eating the elephant one bite at a time, freeing yourself from procrastination is empowering and liberating. So go ahead, seize the day, and get that shit done!

“If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.” It's a concept often attributed to the 19th-century author Mark Twain, according to many online sources.
Desmond Tutu once said that “there is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.” What he meant by this is that many things in life that seem daunting, overwhelming, and even impossible can be accomplished gradually by taking one little step at a time.

In this podcast episode, we embark on a journey exploring the powerful impact of the questions we habitually ask ourselves. Does  the quality of our questions shape the quality of our lives?? YESSSS!! Spoiler alert! It really f*cking matters!
Like most, we often grapple with self-critical thoughts and judgments that come in the forms of questions like “Why am I so stupid?!?” My hope is for you to consider the massive transformative power of shifting those questions that pop in our minds and internal dialogue.
The concept of a "primary question," a notion introduced through Tony Robbins' teachings, was the beginning of change for me and can be for you. These primary questions, ingrained within us from childhood as coping mechanisms, resurface during moments of stress or frustration, guiding us back to our emotional homes. Through sharing some of my own lovely examples, I hope to illustrate how these self-critical questions often stem from deeply ingrained emotions, such as anger, fear, or self-doubt.
However, we will also focus on the beacon of hope that is the potential for reframing and redirecting our questions towards curiosity-based thinking and exploration. By consciously choosing to ask better questions rooted in curiosity and learning, you can reprogram your subconscious mind and cultivate a more positive outlook on life.
Practical exercises and reflections are offered throughout this episode, inviting you to embark on your own journey of self-discovery. From identifying your primary questions to reframing them in a more empowering light, the episode serves as a roadmap for personal growth and transformation. Moreover, the importance of extending this curiosity beyond oneself, fostering deeper connections and meaningful interactions with others. Are you wishing you could more easily connect with others or create a deeper connection with existing relationships? Another spoiler alert…Questions and true curiosity can be a big part of the answer!
Hopefully this episode serves as a reminder that while our thoughts and emotions may shape our reality, we take ownership of our ability to reshape them through intentional questioning and introspection. Like anything worth having, it is up to us to learn and expand our personal skills and commit to a growth mindset.  By embracing curiosity and asking excellent questions, you can embark on a path towards greater fulfillment,  deeper and better connection, and personal well-being and joy.

In this episode of the Power by Joy podcast, we explore the metaphor of life as a motorcycle journey, comparing two approaches: "going with the flow" versus "planning your route." We need to embrace the importance of intentionality and goal-setting in creating a more fulfilling life.
We begin by discussing the freedom of "going with the flow," where one allows life to unfold without a predetermined plan or destination. While this approach offers spontaneity and freedom, it can also lead to uncertainty and stress, similar to riding without a clear plan and running into unexpected challenges. This leads to being forced to react and sometimes, not having the resources needed.
The other side of the coin, we cover the benefits of setting goals and planning one's journey, drawing parallels to mapping out a motorcycle trip. By defining core values and envisioning desired outcomes, you can create a roadmap for your life, allowing for more intentional living and meaningful experiences. Hopefully giving you more chances to respond and have the resources that you may need along the way.
If you have no idea how to start or learn about what your core values, and desired life could possibly look like, you are at the right place! Through examples and simple, specific exercises, I really encourage you to make the time to reflect on your core values, envision your ideal legacy, and plan your life journey accordingly. With an emphasis on the importance of balancing spontaneity with structure, noting that intentional planning can lead to greater freedom and fulfillment in the long run. Bonus, less regrets at the end of the road!
You will be (strongly) encouraged to take time to identify your desires, set intentions, and create a vision for a more ideal life filled with more joy, ensuring that you live with purpose and create amazing, lasting memories along the way!

Today's episode of Powered by Joy Podcast dives into the intersection of motorcycles and meditation, two passions of mine. Both activities offer a unique opportunity to clear mental clutter and increase focus. Despite their apparent differences, the benefits they share are surprisingly similar. Both practices can improve concentration, reduce stress hormones, boost immunity, and enhance problem-solving skills.
When I'm riding my motorcycle, I'm fully engaged, focused on the road, the bike, and my surroundings. Similarly, meditation encourages intentional attention to thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. By pausing and observing, we can gain insights into our inner workings and cultivate a sense of clarity. We can learn that we are not our thoughts and emotions, but that we are the one observing those within ourselves. Big takeaway for changing your life and increasing confidence can come from realizing you are NOT your thoughts and emotions! This can shift your life dramatically, with baby steps we discuss.
In my own journey, I initially tackled both endeavors alone, struggling with fear, uncertainty and stubbornness. However, as I progressed, I began to see the value of mentorship and community. Just as joining group meditation sessions enriched my practice, riding alongside experienced bikers expanded my skills and confidence.
Both pursuits bring opportunities for growth and feeling empowered, and learning to be in the present moment. Whether it's honing specific riding techniques on the track or exploring different meditation styles, the journey towards mastery is marked by intentional, regular practice and guidance.
Ultimately, both motorcycles and meditation provide ways for personal development and self-discovery. Whether you're revving up your engine or settling into a state of mindfulness, both activities offer a pathway to clarity, focus, confidence, fulfillment and more joy!

Today’s episode on Powered by Joy Podcast is about how you should “Ride Your Own Ride," we explore the metaphor of riding a motorcycle as a way to navigate life. Focusing on the importance of living authentically and resisting the pressure to conform to societal expectations. We discuss how social media often gives the illusion of perfection, leading people to compare themselves to others and feel shitty about themselves and their lives.
I encourage you to embrace your individuality and make choices aligned with your true desires, rather than trying to emulate others. Tools like tuning into one's inner voice or "knower" to discern what brings genuine joy and fulfillment are key. By doing so, individuals can break free from the cycle of comparison and live more purposefully and feel less pressure day to day. We have to make the choice to go find and learn new skills and tools for living day to day that we weren’t all taught in our childhood. As an adult, we get to choose to do things different and better than was modeled to us! That’s exciting!
We will do a fun, maybe not so fun, practical exercise involving calculating the remaining months of one's life based on average life expectancy, bringing to light the finite nature of time and the importance of making the freaking most of it! We end with a challenge to seek out new experiences that bring joy, pleasure, and adventure, reminding you not to take your time on Earth for granted!
Don’t look back at the end of the ride and wonder what you could have done better at or enjoyed more of…
Here are the key points from the show about living your own best life.
Reality Check: Despite appearances, everyone faces challenges and imperfections.
Life's Finite Nature: Highlights the limited time we have on Earth, encouraging you to reflect on your remaining years.
Childhood Dreams: Reconnect with childhood dreams and aspirations.
Discovering Yourself: Using self-exploration to discover one's true desires and aspirations.
Avoiding Comparison: Warning against comparing oneself to others and chasing external validation.
Tuning into Inner Voice: Pausing, breathing, and assessing emotional responses to guide decision-making.
Building Inner Skills: The importance of developing personal skills and coping mechanisms.
Riding Your Own Ride: Riding a motorcycle at one's own pace to illustrate living authentically.
Final Reflection: Embracing life's opportunities and the pursuit of personal fulfillment.

Today's episode on Powered by Joy Podcast is all about tapping into your inner child and embracing more joy in your daily life. We often hear about the wounds and pains of our inner child, but today, we're focusing on the joy and pleasure they seek. I'll touch briefly on healing, but let's dive into the fun stuff!
Growing up, most of us had a natural curiosity and love for play. Remember those carefree days of exploration and endless imagination? As we got older, though, the joy of learning through play often faded. But it's time to bring it back!
Think about the activities that brought you joy as a child. Whether it was riding bikes, playing board games for hours, drawing, or playing the guitar, these are clues to what still brings you happiness.
We start with tangible, easy baby steps ideas to reconnect with your inner child and  those retro-play activities. Schedule time for play on your calendar like you would any other important appointment making it a weekly or even daily practice. And don't be afraid to try new things – if it doesn't bring you joy, that's okay! The important thing is that you're listening to your inner child and making time for what brings you joy, pleasure and happiness. Don’t forget to also make time to go look for that photo from when you were little that shows you smiling and happy!
So grab your notebook, get ready to discover your favorite activities, some from childhood hopefully, and make a commitment to bring more joy into your life. Remember, life is meant to be powered by joy!

This episode introduces the idea that self care may not feel sexy, but when done on a regular basis, the results CAN be!
Just like in motorsports or many sports there is usually an on and off season. For me the season brings the most fun and play! Off season brings maintenance, less play and what I consider the more boring stuff that is necessary to have more fun when it’s GO time and the season starts back up. Off season is the learning, review, maintenance, practice, etc.  Not nearly as much fun!
The same can be said for many other areas of our lives like relationships, business, finances, & health.
Starting back around 2013 I was fortunate enough to be invited to listen to an author speak. I had no idea what it was about, besides morning routines. The book being promoted was the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. He was hilarious, fun to listen to, I immediately read the book and started implementing. I started with the early 5am rise time and many years later embraced my body clock calls for a much different rise time. I have explored all sorts of different versions of a morning routine and came up with a self care ritual that works for me. It helps me be the best version of myself to meet the day ahead and be prepared for whatever ‘joyful surprises” meet me.
My self care steps that I engage in is usually 4-5 days a week at the least and have created the foundation for massive growth and abundance in my life. Many mornings I rise, I don’t “feel like” doing the steps, but I’ve been at it long enough to know how I feel is not the way to make my choices. If I skip more than 2 days (usually my weekends), by day 3 I start to feel the shift away from feeling my best physically, mentally and emotionally. This very last weekend proved this self care is not a maybe or should, IT IS a MUST!  It’s amazing how quickly the fatigue, cloudy mind, crankiness, pain and crappy sleep come back to remind me it is a must.
You will find you need to be flexible and curious in developing this practice. Your schedule or a sick family member can quickly distract. One key question to ask yourself- How can I still get it done, even if in a modified version?  Showing up is the point! If you show up more than you don’t, your identity starts to match these new choices.  This episode is packed with practical tips to get started with baby steps.
Caring for the most basic and vital components of what makes you you (mind, body, spirit), might seem less important than everything else vying for your time. This is where you choose your hard. Choose the workout or poor health, choose healthier food or poor health, choose to  have the hard conversation or poor relationships, and so on.
Key components we will cover:
-3 most important focuses of self care
-Breakdown of easiest way to start- baby steps
-How to step up an existing self care routine
-How to build a new habit
-Creating a new identity that embraces self care
-How to see the most success in creating change around self care
-Why try? Are you willing to die for your loved ones? What about living for them?
I also include my own self care ritual that makes me feel the most vitality, which allows me to experience and be ready for more joy and pleasure in my life. Here’s the link to my free download of my daily ritual I like to call my Sexy 6.
